With less than 2 weeks to go, Avengers: Infinity War is already promising to be one of the biggest movies of all time and one of the most anticipated.
Marvel’s superhero epic is the culmination of the last 10 years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe – a record breaking saga that started back in 2008 with Iron Man and will conclude, for the most part, with Avengers: Infinity War.
The blockbuster boasts one of the biggest cast lists in cinematic history and is already breaking box office records with many movie analysts predicting that Infinity War could surpass Star Wars: The Force Awakens in terms of box office revenue.
With pre-ticket sales already eclipsing the last 7 Marvel movies combined, you can’t help but wonder whether Avengers: Infinity War will become the highest grossing film of all time – a feat that would finally dethrone James Cameron’s Avatar.
Exciting would be an understatement – but just what can we expect from this mega-blockbuster? The Hollywood Fly breaks down some of the things we can likely expect from Avengers: Infinity War.
Get ready to say goodbye to some fan favourites
One thing we can expect from Avengers: Infinity War is the deaths of several key characters. With Phase 3 coming to an end, and bearing in mind Thanos is about to be unleashed on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s safe to expect that we’ll be saying goodbye to some of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
Marvel has so far managed to keep any shocks under lock and key, probably due to the fact that cast members such as Tom Holland and Benedict Cumberbatch found themselves banned from reading the script in an attempt by the studio giant to avoid accidental spoilers.
However that hasn’t stopped fans openly sharing their own theories and predictions, with many believing that either Chris Hemsworth’s Thor or Chris Evans Captain America (aka Nomad) will meet an untimely end at the hands of the MCU’s big bad, Thanos.
Thanos will survive Infinity War
For those of you expecting to see Earth Mightiest Heroes defeat the MCU’s big bad, you may very well see it happen, but don’t expect Thanos to die any time soon.
With Josh Brolin already filming a substantial amount of scenes in the still untitled Avengers 4, Thanos will certainly be wreaking havoc for some time to come as Phase 4 gets in to full swing.
Expect to see a new Captain America
Since the release of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, many fans have been convinced that Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) would take over the famous shield and become the new Captain America.
Well it appears that could in fact be the case now that Chris Evans has officially confirmed that Avengers 4 will be his last outing as Steve Rogers. With Evans officially transitioning to Nomad, Captain America’s famous shield needs a new owner and Bucky Barnes could very well be ready to step up and claim it.
Avengers: Infinity War hits cinemas worldwide on April 26.
