Marvels’ upcoming Avengers: Infinity War was the talk of last week’s D23 Expo, and how could it not be considering the incredible star-power on show in front on a packed crowd of fans and press.
Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, took to the stage along with some of the movies stars including Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chadwick Boseman and Thanos himself Josh Brolin.
When you assemble some of Hollywood’s biggest names in one place, you can almost be certain that Disney had something epic to present to the packed-out room.
According to multiple sources at the event, the room erupted when exclusive footage from the upcoming mega-blockbuster were screened for the first time. Sadly for most of us however, the footage remained behind closed doors, with Marvel opting not to release it online to the general public. Instead sources like The Hollywood Reported and ComicBook.com did their best to describe the footage in as much detail as possible – and from what they’ve said, it sounds mind-blowing.
To get an idea of exactly what happened, The Hollywood Reporter has described the teaser footage below:
“The trailer begins with the Guardians of the Galaxy on their ship, floating through a creepy section of space. Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) tells his crew to put on their “mean faces” because things could get dangerous. Suddenly, a body hits their spaceship. It’s an unconscious Thor (Hemsworth), wearing his gladiator garb from Thor: Ragnarok (smart money is on the end of November’s Ragnarok leading directly into 2018’s Infinity War). They bring him inside the ship, and Mantis (Klementieff) wakes him up.
Thor looks around, sees Star-Lord and asks the natural question: “Who the hell are you guys?”
Next, we’re on Earth, where our heroes are dealing with death and destruction. Loki (Tom Hiddleston) has the Tesseract (the Infinity Stone he played around with in The Avengers), and he’s up to no good. In New York, Peter Parker (Holland) is on a school bus and sees his arm hair is rising (Spider-Sense?).”
As well as the incredible scenes described above, the teaser footage also showcased several other exiting features, including Thanos wielding the Infinity Stones gauntlet, Spider-Man’s new ‘Avengers’ suit (first seen in Spider-Man: Homecoming), and Chris Evan’s Captain America (known now as Nomad) sporting a very bushy beard.
Judging by the audiences reaction, as well as the fact that the movie is by far the most expensive in history, I feel pretty safe in assuming that Avengers: Infinity War will break numerous box office records and could even overtake Avatar as the highest grossing movie of all-time.
So prepare yourself for the movie event of a life time when it hits cinemas next year.
