Get ready to see a lot more of Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, because the Aussie bomb-shell has signed a multi-picture deal with Warner Bros. Pictures, including a solo spin-off to this year’s Suicide Squad.
News broke recently that Robbie would also serve as executive producer through her co-owned LuckyChap Entertainment company, who secured the rights to other Warner Bros projects.
At the moment we’ve not got any other info regarding the Harley Quinn spin-off except that Margot Robbie is working hard to secure Jared Leto’s joker for the film, in order to explore this explosive on-screen relationship in more detail – and could Ben Affleck also be thrown into the mix? He has also signed a multi-picture deal with the Hollywood studio.
Considering Warner Bros. eagerness to get the DC Cinematic Universe in full swing, having announced recently that Man of Steel 2 was being rushed through into production, we can expect to see a continuation of Harley Quinn’s storyline from Suicide Squad, rather than an origins story.
Margot Robbie has openly expressed a keen interest in joining Ben Affleck’s solo Batman reboot, which is currently in pre-production over at Warner Bros. Studios in London. It’s already gearing up to be one of the most exciting movie events in the next couple of years, with Joe Manganiello already signed up for the role of Deathstroke.
The next installment in the DC Cinematic Universe to hit cinemas will be next year’s Wonder Woman blockbuster, starring Gal Gadot and Chris Pine.
